"Well, yeah…I mean it gives me more time for myself anyways." Jean laughed nervously and slightly nudged Rictor with her elbow. "I can always find out if she really likes you." She teased, her eyebrows wiggling at him. They were reaching the edge of the forest and Jean pulled her phone out and put on her flashlight app.
"I guess. Still kind of weird." He grinned and nudged her back. "What? No! You are not allowed to read her mind, Jean!" Actually… No. No, he wasn’t going to let it go down that path just to see if she liked him. "Well. I’m pretty sure she does anyway. I might have kissed her and asked her to come to a movie night with me, and she said yes."
Jean raised a brow at the mention of his math struggles. “Hey, if math’s kicking your ass I can always help. I don’t mind doing it. I’m actually a little ahead of my studies…too much free time.” She stated, a small , yet nervous laugh escaping her lips. Hearing that Rictor had also met another girl made Jean smile. “Oh have you now? I hope it’s not too forward to ask if you like her?”
"You had free time so you did more school work? Damn, you’re definitely unique." Rictor snorted and shook his head. He definitely wasn’t one to do that. It was a struggle to actually get the energy to do the work he needed to half the time. "Uh, yeah." He ducked his head to hide a slight blush. "She’s nice. And I think she likes me, so you know…"
Jean smiled when she saw Rictor and noticed he brought a flashlight with him. Something she didn’t think of. “Hey! Yeah — let’s go.” She motioned towards the back of the school and sighed, turning to the boy. “So…what’s been going on with you? You always ask if I’m doing alright and I barely get to hear if you’re alright too.”
He shrugged, stuffing his hands in his pockets as they started walking towards the forest in the back of the school. “Not much, really. Math’s kicking my ass. Power training not as much.” He was good with computers, but he had always been better with his mutation, with honing in on the Earth and just letting go. “Met one of the new girls, Kate. She’s… really nice.”
This is definitely what the red head needed. A distraction. And even though they were a temporary fix for her, it always ended up lessening the load. The woods have always been an interest to Jean, being from the city and all. And she wasn’t too frightened what could be out there. They were mutants, and if anything, they could defend themselves.
After getting properly changed for a little adventure, Jean went out of the building and waited for Rictor to appear.
It didn’t take Rictor long to throw his shoes on and grab a flashlight from the room to bring with. He wasn’t sure about Jean, but he definitely couldn’t see in the dark, and running into a tree because he wasn’t paying attention wasn’t something he looked forwards to.
He saw her almost as soon as he walked out of the building and jogged over with a grin. “Hey. So, woods?”
